Watercolor on paper - quarter sheet. Color used is cobalt for this first step. Work on getting the structure with values.
This shows the next several steps. I added New Gamboge as well as a burnt sienna (or burnt orange) to the petals keeping in mind the values. Then I wet the background and floated in indigo as well as the other 3 colors used in the petals.

Watercolor on wood prepped with Golden Acrylic absorbent ground.
Colored pencil on wood prepped with tinted acrylic ground for pastel (also a Golden Acrylic product)
Both of these are done on the 20" round decorator tables. Prep the table first with a primer. Let it dry and then paint or roll on either the absorbent ground (watercolor) or the tinted acrylic ground for pastel (colored pencil).
These pieces are in the very beginning stages.
