This is the finished piece, seen below separately in another post. They are meant to be either matted and framed seperately or matted as one unit with 2 openings in the mat.
This is the painting after adding several layers of Prismacolor colored pencil over the watercolor under painting. The colors used are white, cream, dark brown (on the horses and the background), sienna brown, dark green, crimson red, and indigo.
This is step 1 and 2 of this painting. Step 1 is the horse on the right. It is a watercolor under painting - a sienna value study and cobalt added with sienna in the background. Step 2 is the horse on the left - a glaze/wash of alizarin crimson on the top of step 1.
These are the beginnings for the Gullah Woman paintings we will do in class. These are both size 11 x 15 watercolor paintings showing two different beginning approaches.The colorful painting has a wash of color under her skin as well as the background. The colorful under painting will add to the richness. The red brown painting is started as a value study.
